tattoo removal answers and questions

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

Everyone has a different experience. Most people say it's a similar feeling to having an elastic band snapped on your skin.

If you handled the feeling of having the tattoo carried out in the first place, then you will be able to handle the sensation of having it removed and tattoo removal is a much quicker process.

At our Bourne Beauty clinic, when removing your tattoo we use an additional cooling system that blows icy cool air on your skin making the treatment even less painful.

How many treatments are needed?

This will depend on your skin tissue and anatomy, the age of the tattoo and the type of ink contained in the tattoo. We will discuss this in-depth at your consultation.

You will need to wait a minimum of 6-8 weeks in between sessions to allow your body the chance to break down the ink before your next appointment.

3

What is the "After Care"?

Laser removal is a non-invasive process, so aftercare is relatively straightforward, but very important. We recommend Aloe Vera to cool the area and  a topical antiseptic cream like to keep it clean. Exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided for 30 days.

For best results drink lots of water and exercise to boost your immune and lymphatic system.

After treatment, your skin may feel hot, you can cool it down using an ice pack. Do not pick, rub or scratch the area.

If you have any questions after a session, please contact us  at anytime.

What happens in the consultation?

At our Bourne Beauty clinic we will work closely with you to understand exactly what results you want to achieve and we will discuss the treatment options and what to expect.  When you decide that you would like to go ahead, we can begin your treatment after carrying out out a patch test using varying energy levels with the laser machine. This enables us to see which level will work best with your skin. We will then schedule your first treatment.

How long does it take to remove eyebrow tattoos with the laser?

It generally takes 3-6 sessions. This is dependant on your skin type,  how saturated the tattoo is and which pigments have been used. Many people see great results after their first session. You will need to wait 6-8 weeks between each session for best results.

6

Can I fade a tattoo for a cover up?

Yes, you definitely can!

The number of treatments needed  for a cover up will depend on how dark your tattoo is. Book a consultation at our Bourne Beauty clinic in Stockport Manchester to discuss your options.

7

Can you remove Semi-Permanent make up?

Yes,  eyebrow tattoos can be removed!

Unfortunately eyeliner cannot be removed due to proximity to the eyeball and the risk of the laser damaging the eye.

Lipstick can be removed, but the ink can oxidise during treatment which means it can go black.

8

How should I prepare for laser tattoo removal?

Please don't come to your appointment with a suntan (real or fake).

A one week sun free period is recommended before your laser treatment or longer if you have returned from a holiday abroad.

Unfortunately, we  cant treat you if you're  pregnant or breast feeding. This is to make sure that no one is affected by light radiation that may pass through your skin.

Unfortunately, If you have skin conditions, or  open wounds on the tattoo area, we won't be able treat you.
